As a religious community the Order of Preachers seeks to support and enact the mission of the Church as described in the Book of Common Prayer (pg. 855).
“The mission of the Church is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.”
The mission of the Church is expressed in many forms, but we believe our unique calling is the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Specifically, we believe our ministry of proclamation has two divisions: preaching and teaching to those who have not professed Christian faith (evangelism) and preaching and teaching to those who have professed Christian faith (discipleship).
In addition, as a religious order we stand in the centuries old tradition of being a community where men and women may live out their commitment to Christ and His Church via a particular pathway: in our case, the Dominican path of discipleship. To that end we seek the spiritual development of all of our members so that they may grow more and more into the image of Christ.
